Go browse any of these sections of our books! FYI, we've also set aside a select sampling of print books on a small book cart, near the big tables where we had our introductory library session. This time we will get to know the legendary Kraken, the good and evil little Vette, the dangerous Draugen and the eerie Mare, in addition to a the more famous Icelandic elves (Álfafólk). 398.2- this is the general Dewey Decimal number for mythology and folklore.291.13- this DD number is especially helpful- it's the number for books on non-Christian world religions, especially from ancient times.200.3- this is the Dewey Decimal (DD) number for general information on religions of the world Draugen is a single-player, first-person Fjord Noir tale of suspense, mystery and deception, set in 1920s Norway. To find alternate spellings, search the Internet using your monster's name and its primary quality (if you know that) as your search terms. Smothered by the sea, ravaged by bestial frequency, DOOM assuredly and austerely spelled out either way, WITCHBONES commits you to the gravest depths of The Seas of Draugen. If you're not finding information on your monster, there may be alternate spellings for it. Crushing but cast away, doomed to solitude and one's own internal destruction, the literally massive, ever-so-slowly-roiling maelstrom WITCHBONES conjures forth is echoed within the thematic arc of The Seas of Draugen itself: setting sail with "The Nun Collector," taking in a "Nebulous Ghost Ship" later on, and sending that listener to the torrid depths, that veritable Davy Jones' Locker of the soul & spirit, with the concluding trifecta of "The Ritual Continues (We Haunt Ourselves)," "At the Shores (Draugen's Revenge)," and "The Candle Burns Alone (Dead Sailors)." Like its aquatic, mythological namesake, here does Vardlokker drown the listener in wave after wave of shuddering, shivering horror that looks and sounds and feels very much like familiar bestial black/death, but is instead uniquely imbued with a wandering, amorphous atmosphere that creates a truly unsettling tension. He emits a terrible scream when he appears, and legend has it he can be seen during stormy nights at sea, drowning sailors and fishermen, and sinking their boats and ships. He is huge, covered in seaweed, and rows in half a boat. More momentum continued with the Akasha II The Lost Demos compilation and then another EP, The Mirror Effect, slated for Halloween.īut, like a man possessed, Vardlokker aligns himself with IRON BONEHEAD to unleash WITCHBONES' densest and most penetrating recording yet, The Seas of Draugen. Draugen is the monstrous ghost of a man who died at sea. At the beginning of 2019 alone, mainman Vardlokker released two EPs a month apart - Akasha and Entropy Rite, respectively, through WITCHBONES' Bandcamp - and right behind it, the aptly titled debut album We Haunt Ourselves. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, just last year did WITCHBONES form but soon began an onslaught of dark 'n' devastating short-lengths. IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS is proud to present WITCHBONES' highly anticipated second album, The Seas of Draugen, on CD and vinyl LP formats.
